Albert Schweitzer Leadership for Life Programme
Youth Leadership programme in Claregalway
This Youth Leadership programme will run in Claregalway offering young people from the area and surrounding areas the chance to become change makers in their community. Sue Redmond, Foróige’s Best Practice Unit Manager will be running the programme in conjunction with volunteers. If you have any questions please contact her below.

Handball – A Sport for Life

2012 is proving a very busy year for Claregalway Handball Club. The summer would normally be the quietest time for the club and members, however in only our 3rd year into the Club’s “rebirth”, some players have just come back from competing in the One Wall Nationals in City West and our boys U-15 and U-16 players will be competing in the 60x30 ‘Big Alley’ championship over the next fortnight at both County and Connacht level. On Monday next 23rd July, the U-15 County fixtures take place in Williamstown @ 7pm. It sees Jamie Kelly playing in the singles and a double pairing of Eoin Collins and Cathal McGrath. We wish them all the best in those fixtures, in what will be there first championship game in the big alley. The lads have been coached by Tommy Duggan over the past 2 months for this big alley outing.
At adult level our players have competed in the men’s Junior 60x30 Connacht championship, 40x20 Nationals, One Wall Nationals and competitions in Williamstown and Mount Talbot. Club adult training has not stopped and juvenile training will be resuming in mid-August with eyes firmly fixed on the World Championships in October. The Club will be making history by entering a number of players at both adult and juvenile level into the Worlds this year.

Clare River Harriers Athletic Club in Claregalway is holding its 25th annual Claregalway 10k Road Race and Fun-Run/Walk on Sat. August 18 at 6pm. This event has been growing steadily in popularity since it was first started and this year's event promises to be no different. The club welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels to come along to the popular local event. If you can't compete make sure to support !
