ImageThe Old Blacksmith's forge located in Loughgeorge Claregalway will be open as part of Heritage Week tomorrow 28th and Sunday 29th August from 12noon to 3pm.

There will be one of the members of the local Historical Society on duty to answer any questions you may have and give a demonstartion of the forge.

The Forge was restored by the Society to its present state in 2008.

The 22nd Anual Claregalway 10K Road Race and fun-run/walk takes place this Saturday 14th August at 6pm. sharp

The race is run by Clare River Harriers Athletic Club and is Approved by the AAI.

Start & Finish in the Claregalway Corporate Park. Number pick-up, Late Entries, parking and changing facilities at the Community Centre, Claregalway, Co. Galway

Residents view the Clare River Study PDF Print E-mail

Residents of Claregalway and those living in areas affected by the recent flooding of the River Clare, arrived at the Claregalway Hotel yesterday to get their hands on the findings of the Clare River Flood Study.

ImageMinister of State at the Department of Finance with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Dr. Martin Mansergh TD, who launch the Study, announced that he has provided funding for works to reduce flooding from the Clare River. The Minister puts an estimate of €8m on the costs.

Included in the works are :

· Construction of flood eye at Claregalway Bridge
· Construction of flood eyes at Crusheen Bridge
· Road raising and ancillary works at Miontach South and North
· Channel maintenance and culvert upgrade at Kiniska

The Minister added that: OPW intend to commence the advance works before the end of September 2010.
