It’s that time of year again, when we have the Claregalway Festival of Drama. The event will be
staged in the Claregalway Leisure Centre from Thursday, March 12th to Friday, March 20th. Tickets for the shows can be reserved in advance or in most cases available for sale at the door. A season ticket which allows access to all shows offers great value and is keenly priced at €60. Curtains for all shows is at 8pm sharp. As always there are refreshments available at the interval and a fully licensed festival bar will be open after the show.

Claregalway is one of the few local areas where a drama festival is being run and it offers our parish a wonderful chance to come along and see the great plays on offer in a local venue. Its long running success lies in the active and energetic committee.

ImageOur adjucator Brendan Murray ADA is from Moycullen.

The festival opens with Claregalway’s own Compantas Lir performing Elmer Harris’s ‘Johnny
Belinda’. The play is about young Belinda, a deaf mute, whose afflictions have been confused
with mental deficiency. The town’s doctor takes an interest in helping her break free of her silent
prison, which does not please the local villagers.

We have two other local groups performing, KATS from Knocknacarra and DADS from Dunmore.
The Committee looks forward to the usual high level of support so as to give a warm welcome to all
the groups performing at the festival.
